Streeting asks Barclay to confirm that the Government will not move to paid GP services

In health and social care department questions on Tuesday, shadow secretary for health Wes Streeting urged the government not to move to a paid GP services NHS model.

Streeting said: “Will the Secretary of State take this opportunity to rule out any extension to user-charging in the NHS?”

Secretary of state for health and social care Steve Barclay responded: “We remain committed to treatment free at the point of use. The use that is the Prime Minister’s position. That is the Government’s position”.
