Siddiq calls on Home Office to ‘make system work’ for child Ukrainian refugees

Tulip Siddiq used her Westminster Hall opening speech regarding the Homes for Ukraine scheme to call on the government to “make the system work” for children fleeing Ukraine who are not with parents or legal guardians.

Siddiq acknowledged the importance of safeguarding but urged the Home Office to make policy changes so that a 13 year old girl is not “forced to choose between returning to a warzone ir staying alone putting herself at risk”. 

The Labour MP asked the government “how applications for asylum would be considered under ant new rules bring considered”.
