Rutley – Department for Work and Pensions office closures

In an urgent question, the under-secretary for work and pensions David Rutley outlined to the House of Commons the changes being made to local civil service jobs around the UK.

He explained that his department are “constantly looking at ways to improve services” and that the changes, primarily to “back of house staff”, will help achieve that goal.

When asked whether there would be any employees whose office of work would be closing with no nearby office to move to, Rutley admitted that there are “around 1,300 that could be involved”.
