Labour MP swears in again after refusing to pledge allegiance to King’s ‘heirs and successors’

Labour MP Clive Lewis returned to the House of Commons on Tuesday to swear in for a second time.

The MP for Norwich South appeared in the chamber to repeat the oath after already making one attempt “under protest” to officially take his seat after the general election.

In his initial rendition of the oath last week, Lewis appeared to refuse to swear allegiance to King Charles III’s “heirs and successors”.
