Kinnock: Ukrainian visa delays ‘cock up rather than conspiracy’

In an urgent question, Liberal Democrat’s Wendy Chamberlain asked for a statement on the visa application centres that have seen delays in the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Home minister Kevin Foster told the House of Commons that “appointments are available across Europe” and that in many cases “on the same day for customers”. Chamberlain later reminded Foster that the centres were helping “refugees, not customers”.

Shadow minister Stephen Kinnock brought attention to reports that visas for larger families had been “deliberately withheld”. Kinnock told the House that he tries to “assume that it’s down to cock up rather than conspiracy”. Foster dismissed the report as “absolute nonsense”.
