Ed Miliband accuses the government of ‘standing on the sidelines’ in race for green jobs

During energy and net zero department questions today, shadow secretary of state for climate and net zero Ed Miliband asked the minister about the government’s commitments on green jobs.

Mr Miliband said: “The Kincardine floating windfarm off the coast of Scotland is indeed the largest in the world, Mr. Speaker. Its foundations were made in Spain, its turbines made in Rotterdam, where it was also assembled, and the finished product, simply towed into Scottish waters”.

Secretary of state for energy security and net zero responded: “There was a failure to develop the supply chain. I wonder if it could have been anything to do with the former energy secretary who only managed to only manage 7% of renewables”.
