Badenoch asked to respond to letter from cross-party group of predecessors calling for ‘explicit industrial strategy’

During business and trade department questions today, Labour spokesperson Jonathan Reynolds asked for a response from the secretary of state to the letter composed by three of her predecessors calling for an “explicit industrial strategy”. The letter was written by Conservative MP Greg Clark, Liberal Democrat Vince Cable and Labour’s Lord Mandelson.

Ms Badenoch responded: “He mentions a lot of systemic issues which are being faced globally. He talks about the US IRA and the EU GDP and he is right to raise these things. But it is good for me to mention that there is a lot that we are doing in this space”.
