Fire Brigades Union slams “authoritarian attack” on workers in Conservative manifesto
Fire Brigades Union general secretary Matt Wrack comments on the Tory manifesto pledge to continue to use the draconian minimum service levels legislation against trade unions.
Wrack said: “The Tory manifesto is a further declaration of war on trade unions and workers’ rights.
“The Minimum Services legislation seeks to effectively ban firefighters and other workers from going on strike to defend their jobs, wages and employment conditions.
“It’s outrageous that the Tories are planning to continue to use this highly authoritarian and dictatorial law to attack trade unions if they are re-elected.
“A re-elected Tory government would strip back employment rights to the days of the Victorian era.
“It’s vital that the Tories are kicked out of office and that a Labour government is elected to deliver on its promise to scrap this pernicious anti-worker legislation in its first 100 days in office.”
