Sadiq Khan criticised for keeping Night Tube closed
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been criticised for failing to reopen Night Tube services.
Transport Commissioner Andy Byford claimed in April that there was little demand for the service, however hospitality services have since reopened across the city.
She said: “I would like to know what the Met Police will be doing to keep women, especially women, safe. As the nights have got darker and as we move towards the Christmas period, you can expect more people will be out celebrating and wanting to find a safe way home.”
Increased calls to reopen the service follow the issuing of a life order sentence to police officer Wayne Couzens on Thursday for the kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah Everard who vanished in March while walking home from a friend’s house in Clapham to her home in Brixton.
Sabina Nessa, 28, also went missing in South London on 17 September and was later found dead.
