Rayner details ‘terrible’ abuse and apologises for ‘scum’ remarks
Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner has released a statement detailing “terrifying” abuse she has reportedly faced.
In the statement, she also apologised for her remarks at the Labour Party’s annual conference last month in which she referred to Tory “scum”.
She said she had reflected on the comments and wished to “unreservedly apologise”.
She described the late MP Sir David Amess as a “kind, generous and warm-hearted man”
Greater Manchester Police said yesterday that they had arrested a 52-year-old man after Labour party deputy leader Angela Rayner had reported receiving abusive messages.
The police also say that two other men have also been arrested this week in connection with threats to the MP for Ashton-under-Lyne.
