Jimmy Carr should be cancelled for Holocaust joke, suggests health secretary

The health secretary has suggested that members of the public ought to cancel a prominent comedian for a “horrid” joke relating to the Holocaust joke.

Sajid Javid said he would not be “watching or listening to” Jimmy Carr.

Carr, who is famous for his controversial remarks, has faced a barrage of criticism over the weekend after a joke from his recent Netflix special His Dark Material was widely discussed online.

In the joke, Carr jibed that the murder of thousands of the Roma and Gypsy ethnic groups was a “positive” of the Holocaust, a tragedy which was also responsible for the murder of six million Jewish people by the Nazi regime and their collaborators.

Javid made clear to Times Radio that he thought joke was “horrid” and that Carr’s work should be shunned as a result.
