‘We need to fix social care’

A former care minister says that the integration plans laid out in the NHS white paper will not be realised without ‘fixing’ social care.

Professor Paul Burstow says social care workers are undervalued in society and the churn of staff in the sector costs around £1 billion a year.

He says the pandemic has offered up the chance to implement a more sustainable funding solution in the long-term.
