Throup explains how the government will tackle cardiac disease backlogs following coronavirus

Following Jim Shannon’s speech on the impact of Covid on cardiac diseases in the UK, shadow minister Andrew Gwynne and health under-secretary Maggie Throup participated in the debate.

Gwynne spoke of the way that the pandemic “exploited and exacerbated the failures” of health inequalities in the NHS.

Throup provided the House of Commons with the government’s solution of committing £2.3 billion “to increase the volume of diagnostic activity”.
