Suella Braverman: ‘UK governed by foreign judges who do not have our interests at heart’

Speaking in the second day of the Safety of Rwanda Bill’s commons committee stage, former Home Secretary Suella Braverman said the UK is being “governed by a foreign court and judges who do not have our interests at heart”.

She also told MPs: “Now we are here to fix a problem, the problem that we are all seized by – that is stopping the boats. And this is our third attempt to fix this problem. We passed the Nationality and Borders Act in 2021. We then passed the Illegal Migration Act in 2023, and we are here again, third time round, with the safety of Rwanda Bill 2024”.

She added: “And the British people are fed up, they have run out of patience, they have run out of time. And this is our last chance to get it right now”.
