Speaker demands meeting with Mail on Sunday editor following claims of ‘misogyny’ towards Rayner

At the beginning of this week’s business in the House of Commons, Speaker of the House Sir Lindsey Hoyle revealed in a statement that he has demanded a meeting with the editor on the Mail on Sunday and a separate one with Angela Rayner.

This follows the “misogynistic” claim in an article that Rayner looked to distract prime minister Boris Johnson through a “basic instinct ploy”.

Hoyle labelled the article “misogynistic and offensive”, expressing his sympathy.
