Mordaunt accuses Andrew Bridgen of peddling untruths in the House of Commons

At business questions today, independent MP Andrew Bridgen labelled the World Health Organisation (WHO) “unelected, unaccountable [and] non-tax paying” as he called for a ministerial statement on the UK’s membership.

He asked leader of the House Penny Mordaunt: “Can we please have a statement on why this House is determined to give away sovereign powers to an unelected, unaccountable, non-tax paying diplomatically immune from prosecution organisation whose current director general was only appointed through a unholy alliance of Bill Gates and the Chinese Communist Party?”

Mordaunt responded by suggesting the MP for North West Leicestershire was peddling untruths in the chamber.

She urged Bridgen to focus on the “real issues” and “not pretend that this House or anyone in it or any of its committees has any other hidden agenda”.

“The honourable gentleman knows that is not true”, she said.
