North East Ambulance Service: Minister commits the NHS to learn from mistakes

In an urgent question, shadow health secretary Wes Streeting asked for a statement from the government regarding reports of the North East Ambulance service “covering up gross negligence”.

Maria Caulfield responded, telling the House that her “thoughts are with the families affected” and that the NHS’ “willingness to learn from mistakes can be the difference between life and death”.

Caulfield called for a “culture of openness and a commitment to learning” across the NHS.
