New Labour MPs Gen Kitchen and Damien Egan sworn in after recent by-election victories
Gen Kitchen and Damien Egan took their seats as MPs in the House of Commons today after Labour ousted the Conservatives in two recent by-elections.
Egan won in Kingswood, south Gloucestershire, and Kitchen was victorious in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
They overturned majorities of 11,220 (Kingswood) and 18,540 (Wellingborough), in what amounted to the Conservative Party’s ninth and tenth by-election defeats of the current parliament last week.
Kitchen secured Wellingborough with 45.8 per cent of the vote, while Egan won Kingswood with 44.9 per cent of the vote.
