Mini-budget legacy: ‘More coherence’ in government fiscal policy than is assumed, Hunt claims

The commons Treasury select committee today heard evidence from chancellor Jeremy Hunt. The committee is holding a series of hearings on the Spring Budget.

Asked whether the government had taken a “consistent” approach to fiscal policy in recent years, Mr Hunt said: “I think it’s been more coherence than you might think. With one exception, yes, there were some mistakes in the mini budget which we had to reverse”.
