Gove told by Speaker not to ‘spoil a good day’

During levelling up questions, secretary of state Michael Gove was seemingly provoked by a Labour MP who accused the government of “moving the goalposts” regarding the distribution of wealth in the country.

The Labour MP Stephen Morgan described levelling up as a “postcode lottery”.

Gove described this characterisation as “cliché” and accused Morgan of trying to make party political points. The Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle intervened, amusingly telling Gove not to “spoil a good day”.
