Duncan Smith: ‘What other country in the world would allow this to happen?’

In an opening Westminster Hall speech, Sir Iain Duncan Smith told MPs that legitimacy in Hong Kong courts “is no more” with the 25th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong to China on 1st July.

The Conservative MP vented his frustration and concern at the security risks for the UK coming as a consequence of Chinese company Huawei being involved in many UK universities and “at least 18 research partnerships”.

The former leader of the Conservative party asked Westminster Hall “honestly, what other country in the world would allow this to happen?”
