Commons marks International Day of Disabled Persons with debate

Labour MP Marsha De Cordova led a debate on Thursday to mark the UN International Day of Disabled Persons, which is officially on 3rd December.

Shadow secretary of state for women and equalities Anneliese Dodds said: “Disturbingly disabled people made up three in five of those who died from COVID 19 in England during the first wave of the pandemic. Successive failures in social care and Social Security have left disabled people more vulnerable to the health and economic consequences of the virus”.
