Clive Lewis and Chris Philp clash over ‘draconian’ public order bill

During the urgent question today on the arrest of protestors during King Charles III’s coronation, Clive Lewis challenged the minister on the operation of the public order bill.

Mr Lewis said: “You take a piece of draconian legislation like the public order bill, pass it through – rush it through this place with an unelected head of state who gave it consent, hand it to a failing institution like the Metropolitan Police, who then decapitate the leadership of the Republican protest movement. What do you expect?”.
