MDU training professional one of first in country to receive membership award

The excellence of the Medical Defence Union’s (MDU’s) learning and development team has been recognised once more with an award for exceptional tutors and trainers. The MDU’s James Godber, senior learning and development officer, is one of the first people in the country to receive a membership award from City & Guilds. The award recognises the contribution James has made to training MDU members and developing colleagues across the organisation.

This is the second time this year that MDU learning and development has been recognised with a prestigious award. Earlier this year, the leading medical defence organisation was given a Princess Royal Training award.

Craig Johnson, MDU learning and development manager, said:

“We are extremely proud of the learning experiences that James provides to members through our education programme and to all staff across the company as part of our commitment to employee development. James is one of the most creative and inspiring training professionals I have worked with. It’s amazing to have his expertise recognised in this way. Well done, James.”

James Godber, MDU senior learning and development officer, commented:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be one of only fifteen people to receive this award. It’s a hugely significant accolade in the learning and development community. Having an organisation like City & Guilds recognise the quality of training that we provide to our members and colleagues, and our organisational commitment to developing our teams here at the MDU is incredibly gratifying.”

James has provided training to healthcare professionals on communication skills, getting it right when things go wrong and unconscious bias in healthcare. Find out more about these and other courses at the MDU website  themdu.com/learn-and-develop
