BP announces huge profits as millions across Europe unable to heat their homes
London/Brussels, February 8th – Reacting to reports that BP today announced eight-year-high profits of $12.8bn in 2021, Murray Worthy, Gas Campaign Leader at Global Witness said:
“Our energy system makes executives at BP and other fossil gas companies unimaginably rich, while condemning millions of people across Europe to suffer in cold, draughty homes they are unable to afford to heat. At the same time it is pushing us deeper and deeper into climate breakdown.
“The way out of this crisis is for governments to cut the parasitic fossil gas industry out of the picture once and for all, and ensure affordable, renewable heating and insulated homes for everyone.”
