The receptionist at King Edward VII hospital which has been looking after Kate Middleton has been found dead after a suspected suicide.

It comes just two days after a pair of Australian radio DJs made a prank call to the hospital pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles checking up on Kate.

A police spokesman confirmed that a body had been found at a nearby address, and the hospital has confirmed her as Jacintha Saldanha.

"Police were called at approximately 9.35 am this morning to reports of a woman found unconscious at an address in West London," he said.

"London Ambulance service attended, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Inquires continue, and at this stage the death is being treated as unexplained."

The prank call was made early on Tuesday morning. The DJs were put straight through to the nurse who had been caring for the Duchess.

The couple announced they are expecting a child on Monday afternoon after Kate had been taken to hospital suffering from particularly bad morning sickness.

It's not known has many weeks pregnant she is, but it believed to be less than 12 as it is likely the royal couple would have preferred to wait until after the first trimester scan.
