It’s the election of the deputy Speakers and select committee chairs which are the highlights of this week in Westminster.

Tuesday sees the first ever elections for the John Bercow deputies. Then on Wednesday MPs will have all day to use the alternative vote system to select which backbenchers get the coveted roles of chairing select committees.

It’s a busy week in the chamber, too. The Queen’s Speech debates continue on Monday and Tuesday, before Wednesday brings the new government’s first legislation to the Commons and David Cameron’s second ever prime minister’s questions.
