Britons divided over election impact on finances

Britons are divided over the affect the general election will have on their finances, according to a new survey.

Legal & General asked nearly one thousand people whether they believed the outcome of the election would affect the amount of money they had to put towards savings.

Forty seven per cent of adults said that ‘yes’ it would affect the amount of money they had, while 46 per cent said it would not. The remaining seven per cent were made up of ‘don’t knows’.

Legal & General’s Julia Clayworth said the outcome indicated that the savings debate had not been a frontline election issue, but called for a greater focus on encouraging people to save from all political parties.
