UKIP aims for 20 seats

The United Kingdom Independence Party has a real chance of winning 20 Westminster seats, according to MEP Nigel Farage.

Speaking on BBC1’s Breakfast with Frost, Mr Farage said his party’s ambition at the general election was “getting our first toehold in Westminster”.

“We want to look at the 21 constituencies in which we came first in June 10th last year and try and secure, even if it is just a handful of victories in those seats, because once the UKIP voice is heard in Westminster, I’m sure it will grow very rapidly indeed,” the MEP said.

Mr Farage also said his party would not challenge any candidates from the main parties who publicly stated their intention to seek Britain’s withdrawal from Europe and return to a “genuine” free trade agreement.
