Two snap polls suggest most voters think PM should resign over partygate scandal

Two snap polls released today suggest that most voters think the prime minister should resign following further allegations that he hosted lockdown-breaching gatherings at Downing Street in 2020.

A YouGov poll published today showed that 56% of British voters think the prime minister should resign.

A further poll released by Savanta ComRes earlier this afternoon found that voters, of an almost three to one margin, do not see Boris Johnson as an asset to his party, while two-thirds of voters (66%) said he ought to resign following this week’s fresh scandal allegations.

This figure is a jump of 12 percentage points from the figure the polling form recorded in response to whether the PM ought to quit last month.

The poll also found that 77% of people believed the allegations ought to be investigated by the police.
