The Lords today: Rail strikes and social care reform

The House of Lords sits from 11 a.m. with the arrival of two new peers: former Labour MP Ruth Smeeth and former Conservative MP Stewart Jackson.

There will then be questions on the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, protecting media freedom around the world and the Christmas rail strikes.

The main business of the day will be debates on the arts and creative industries, the London Fire Brigade and on social care reform.
