SNP MP recovering from serious Covid-19 symptoms

SNP MP Allan Dorans is recovering in Ayr’s University hospital after a “severe and debilitating” bout of Covid-19.

The 66 year old who has represented Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock since 2019, was hospitalised earlier this week.

He said his office would remain open to help the public as he recovers.

He told the Daily Record newspaper: “I’d like to thank everyone for their warm wishes since I was admitted to hospital, and as I continue to recover from the serious effects of covid.

“In particular, I want to pay tribute to our excellent NHS Scotland health professionals who have done an exceptional job of treating and taking care of me.

“Many families across Ayr, Carrick, Cumnock – and the whole of Scotland – have been impacted by covid over the past couple of years. My office will continue to help constituents while I am being treated and on the road to recovery.

“This should serve as a reminder that covid is still very much with us and still has the potential to do serious harm, which is why it’s so important that we all follow the Scottish Government advice and act cautiously.”
