Media regulator Ofcom has rescinded the Kremlin-backed channel RT TV’s right to broadcast in the UK.
“We do not consider RT to be fit and proper to hold a UK licence and cannot be satisfied that it can be a responsible broadcaster,” Ofcom said via Twitter this morning.
Former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond has hosted a weekly show on the channel since November 2017. On 24 February he suspended the show, following pressure to do so after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
