MPs vote 371-16 to refer John Nicolson to privileges committee

Last week, SNP MP John Nicolson shared his correspondence with the Speaker on Twitter.

The correspondence related to the Speaker’s decision on referring Conservative former culture secretary Nadine Dorries to the Privileges Committee.

After a bite in the commons on Tuesday, Nicolson has now been referred to that same committee.

In a debate today on privilege, put forward by Conservative MP David Davis, Mr Nicolson was accused of a “clear breach” of parliamentary rules for tweeting details of the letter from Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

MPs voted by 371 to 16 to refer him to the committee.
