MP congratulates motorists breaking up eco protests
Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen has praised motorists filmed dragging Insulate Britain activists off a road to allow an ambulance to pass.
The incident is reported to have taken place on Wandsworth Bridge in London, on Monday morning.
Frustrated drivers can be seen dragging protesters from the road where they appeared to be blocking an ambulance.
The MP for North West Leicestershire wrote via Twitter: “The Great British public have had enough of these anarchists and their illegal and irresponsible behaviour obstructing the passage of an ambulance – and preventing people from getting to work.”
The protest group Insulate Britain said around 50 people had blocked four sites around London on Monday morning.
Other protest locations included the Blackwall Tunnel where LBC London Radio captured the moment a woman stuck in the traffic accosted with protesters preventing her from travelling to her elderly mother who she said was in hospital in Kent.
Metropolitan Police said 38 people had been arrested.
