Labour satirise ‘Brand Rishi’ as government presses ahead with NI hike

Labour have issued parody letters “from Rishi Sunak” to lobby journalists, satirising the chancellor’s routine use of personal branding.

Treasury social media posts often use Sunak’s personal signature and image.

Over a dozen activists wearing Rishi Sunak masks have been sighted outside the Treasury today with blown up versions of the parody letter.

Earlier this morning Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer accused the government of being “totally out of touch” following today’s National Insurance hike.

“Everybody knows prices are going through the roof, wages are going through the floor,” ITV’s Good Morning Britain programme.

“Only last week we had the energy bill hike of hundreds of pounds that people can’t afford and then today the Government chooses – chooses – to impose new tax on people and it is only on working people by the way… so it is the wrong tax at the wrong time and also it is the 15th tax increase from the Chancellor and so now we have got the highest tax burden for 70 years.

“For so many people who are struggling there is a sense of a government that is totally out of touch with what they are doing.”
