Keir Starmer tests positive for Covid

Labour leader Keir Starmer has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

This marks the fifth time the MP for Holborn and St Pancras has been forced to self-isolate after himself or someone he has come into contact with has tested positive for the virus.

Shadow energy secretary and former party leader Ed Miliband is currently undertaking PMQs in the House of Commons, saying “I can reassure the House – it’s for one time only”.

Deputy leader Angela Rayner is currently absent from the Commons due to bereaving leave.

Starmer was set to issue his response to today’s budget announcement this afternoon.
