Javid refuses to rule out banning over-65s without booster jab from public transport

Health secretary Sajid Javid has refused to rule out banning over-65s without Covid booster jabs from public transport and restaurants, as France has recently decided to.

He told the Sky News Breakfast programme this morning that while the government has “not yet” considered such measures, he could not rule out implementing such measures in future.

Yesterday the government set out plans to mandate that frontline NHS staff are vaccinated or have evidence of medical exemption.

He also went on to say that he “regrets voting” for last week’s motion to overhaul parliamentary standards guidelines that would have quashed Owen Paterson’s recommended 30-day suspension.
