Extinction Rebellion scale silos at Hampshire oil refinery

Protestors from the environmental group Extinction Rebellion(XR) have staged a demonstration against fossil fuel at the Fawley refinery in Hampshire.

According to the group’s social media pages, they have scaled oil silos and have unfurled two banners reading: “Climate Emergency” and “No Future in Fossil Fuels”.

The COP26 UN climate summit is set to kick off in Glasgow on Sunday, where the prime minister hopes a landmark deal on global emission reduction will be struck.

XR have said they intend to stage protests during the conference.
