Ex French diplomat criticises PM for sharing open letter to Twitter

Gérard Araud, France’s former ambassador to the US, has criticised the UK government’s decision to release an open letter to French President Emmanuel Macron via social media.

“Was it proper and productive to publish a letter sent to another government without its approval?”, he said via Twitter.

His approach has also faced criticism, given that France’s foreign affairs ministry have tweeted remarks relating to the ongoing Channel crisis.
