Ed Davey: ‘Prioritise NHS and care workers for fuel’
Health and care staff, teachers and other essential workers should be given priority access to fuel, according to Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey.
Commenting on the fuel shortages, Davey said:
“The government must urgently intervene and give NHS and other key workers priority access to fuel, to keep essential services running while ministers finally get to grips with this crisis.”
The British Medical Association has also called on the government to give healthcare staff and essential workers priority access to fuel.
Dr Chaand Nagpaul, the chair of council at the BMA, stated that “there is a real risk that NHS staff won’t be able to do their jobs and provide vital services and care to people who urgently need it.”
