Corbyn attacks Starmer for ‘propping up the wealthy’
Jeremy Corbyn has attacked Sir Keir Starmer for ‘propping up the wealthy and powerful’, as the tensions between Labour’s factions blew open this evening.
Writing for the i, the former Labour leader claimed the Labour membership and trade unions were under attack for wanting to challenge wealth and power.
“They have shown they want to prop up, not challenge that wealth and power”, Corbyn added.
Corbyn’s opinion piece was released closely after Andy McDonald’s sensational resignation from the Labour shadow cabinet. The former shadow secretary for employment rights said his position had become “untenable” following an order to argue against a £15 national minimum wage.
According to reports, the Labour leadership were blindsided by McDonald’s departure.
