‘It’s not right that so many people are unable to buy’: MPs debate the housing crisis

A debate was held about the ongoing housing crisis facing the UK. The debate focussed on the housing shortage which has led to increased rent and buying costs.

David Davis, Conservative MP for Haltemprice and Howden, began the debate by stressing the importance of building more houses. He said that it was ‘not right’ that so many people are unable to buy their own home and have to rely on the less secure rental sector which often requires them to move house at short notice and struggle to find somewhere else to live.

Other MPs including Kit Malthouse also spoke on the matter, agreeing that the solution was to build more properties.
