It is a broad group of over 60 anti-poverty, energy, environmental and health campaigners, local authorities, trade unions and consumer organisations and is also supported by academics and industry experts.
We need short and long-term measures to help the millions of households in fuel poverty:
- Address operational issues with the package of support announced by the Chancellor in May 2022
- Urgent, co-ordinated, action to improve the energy efficiency of our homes, including a skills strategy.
- Further, short-term, financial support for people in fuel poverty this winter to mitigate any further increase in the price cap above £2800 and support those suffering already.
- Review and subsequent reform of the energy supply market to consider the introduction of policies such as a social tariff, energy for all allowance and a total price cap ceiling.
- A secure, renewable-led, domestic energy supply and a formal review of the domestic energy market.
