Brown calls on Labour to ‘build Britain of our dreams’

Prime minister Gordon Brown has addressed his party and called on them to help him “build the Britain of our dreams”.

Mr Brown was speaking today at the Labour party’s spring conference in Birmingham.

He declared that it was Labour, not the Conservatives, who could offer the people of Britain more opportunity.

“This is the New Labour promise of opportunity and security not just for some but for all.”

“Imagine if together we build a Britain where what counts is not how high you start, but how high you can reach.”

The local elections of 160 councils in England, all the constituencies in Wales and the London assembly and Mayor of London will take place in May.
