Parliament set for Olympic debate

The second day of the summer Parliamentary session is set to host a debate on the London 2012 bid.

Called by bid enthusiast Liberal Democrat Simon Hughes, it aims to showcase support for the bid across all parties.

Mr Hughes said: “I am delighted that the Speaker has responded to my request for an early debate which will show the huge support for the London Olympic bid.”

He added: “It is the job of all of us who support the Olympics coming to London to make our voice heard and do everything we can to win the support for the bid.”

The debate will take place on Tuesday 7 June at 1100.
