Two more soldiers named in murder charge

The names of two more British soldiers charged with the murder of an Iraqi citizen have been revealed by the Attorney General.

Private Samuel May and Roberto Di-Gregorio, who is now a civilian, will stand trial by court martial for a joint offence of murder and a second joint charge of violent disorder.

Both soldiers were in 3 Para, which is based in Colchester, Essex.

The naming of the two men comes a day after Lord Goldsmith informed the House of Commons that seven British soldiers have been charged with murder.

The charges relate to the death of Nadhem Abdullah on May 11th 2003 in Al U’Zayra in southern Iraq, following an incident at the roadside.

Three of the men facing the charges were named yesterday as corporal Scott Evans, private William Nerney and Daniel Harding, who is now a civilian.

No date has yet been set for trial or a preliminary hearing.
