Police issued warning on new LSD-laced ecstasy drug

Police are on alert after a potent hallucinogenic variant of the drug ecstasy was smuggled into the UK from Europe.

The drug, called 2C-I, is highly dangerous, the National Criminal Intelligence Service warned.

Between May and August this year 125 of the white pills, each marked with an “i”, were seized in nine separate raids.

Pills were seized at the Glastonbury festival, and at raves and nightclubs in Brighton, Wales, Bedfordshire and Edinburgh.

The Class A drug was smuggled in from Europe – possibly from Denmark – according to reports.

Dealers are attracted to the drug because of its relatively high street price. 2C-i pills can fetch up to GBP10 each.
