Suicide bombers hit Casablanca

The Moroccan town of Casablanca has been hit by a series of devastating explosions which has left at least 24 dead.

The authorities have said that ten suicide bombers were among those who died in the attacks, and there are remains of burnt out vehicles which are suspected to have carried the bombs.

Among the targets are reported to be a Spanish restaurant, a Jewish cemetery and the Belgium consulate.

Al Qaeda is suspected to behind the attacks, due to their sophisticated co-ordination and the Christian and Jewish targets.

Initial information indicates that a large number of Moroccans have been injured in the attacks rather than foreigners.

The attack comes after the British government suspended flights to Kenya and warned against non essential travel to a number of African countries. Morocco however wasn’t on the list.

Prior to these attacks Morocco has been considered a safe country for foreigners, and has been a staunch internationally ally of America.
