Bush says that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction will be found

Despite drawing a blank so far, George Bush has declared his belief it will only be a matter days before they unveil Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.

Speaking at a press conference during his visit to Australia, President Bush reminded journalists that Iraq is the size of California and while his troops have only had a few weeks to find the weapons, the former regime had any number of years to hide them.

He continued to explain his belief that they are hidden in a network of underground caves and tunnels: ‘Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. We will find them. they’ve got tunnels, caves, all kinds of complexes. We’ll find them, and it’s just going to be a matter of time to do so.’

He also said that Tariq Aziz, the former Iraqi deputy Prime Minister, is failing to fully co-operate with coalition forces.

Bush was hoping that Iraqi politicians in custody, such as Aziz would be prepared to provide crucial information about Saddam Hussein’s whereabouts and any prohibited weapons.

However, so far questioning Mr Aziz has proved fruitless: ‘We’re learning that, for example, that Tariq Aziz still doesn’t know how to tell the truth. He didn’t know how to tell the truth when he was in office, he doesn’t know how to tell the truth as a captive.’

Despite this, he maintained that the growing list of lower ranking officials may prove to be more helpful than those labelled as jacks, queens, kings and aces in the pack of Iraqi cards.

‘It may not be the aces, kings, queens and jacks that do the talking. It may be those who are carrying the water for the aces, kings, queens and jacks that do the talking.’
